Chi Chung Wu 胡智聰

Dr Wu received his BSc in Molecular Biotechnology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.  He joined the International Max Planck Research School for Cell, Developmental and Systems Biology in Dresden, Germany, for his doctoral studies under the supervision of Prof. Gilbert Weidinger to study heart regeneration in zebrafish and received his PhD in 2016.  After his PhD, he joined the laboratory of Prof. Didier Stainier at the Max Planck Institute of Heart and Lung Research as a postdoctoral fellow. As part of the innovation campus Mannheim-Heidelberg, since 2022, he leads his independent junior research group at the European Center for Angioscience, Medical Faculty Mannheim, Heidelberg University.

His current work aims to understand the regulatory mechanisms and physiological significance of mammalian cardiomyocyte polyploidy.
