Hon Keung Kwan

  • Fellowship in 1986 at University of Windsor

H. K. Kwan received the D.I.C. and Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering (signal processing) from Imperial College London, U.K., in 1981. He is a Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Windsor. Dr. Kwan is a licensed Professional Engineer (Ontario), a Chartered Electrical Engineer (U.K.), and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (U.K.).

Currently

Signal processing (SP) has established itself as an essential tool for a broad range of applications. However, current SP algorithms mostly process a signal as programmed without making use the dynamic information of the signal to process intelligently. Intelligent signal processing (ISP) that combines the computing power of a SP algorithm and the brain-like intelligence to process a signal will offer an unparalleled performance. The current research of Dr. Kwan aims to advance the theory and techniques of ISP, and their applications in genomic sequences and medical images.
