Lau Wah Tung

  • Fellowship in 2010 at University of Toronto

Dr. Wah Tung Lau is currently a postdoctoral fellow at University of Toronto, conducting research in nanophotonics. He received his undergraduate education at the University of Hong Kong, and obtained his doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University.

Currently

Dr. Lau is interested in the manipulation of light at small length scale. Using nanophotonic structures of feature sizes comparable to the wavelengths of light, his works can lead to various application opportunities, as well as novel phenomena unattainable in nature. These include solar cell efficiency enhancement through photon splitting or fusing, bio-molecule detection in fluid using high-resolution photon spectrum, and to aim towards the ultimate thermal insulation where the flow of thermal radiation is suppressed exponentially.
