Dr Yu is aspired to develop catalytic methods to convert unactivated carbon-hydrogen bonds to carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom (e.g. nitrogen) bonds. His research would bring innovative solutions to conventional synthetic methods for productions of pharmaceutical and functional materials by improving atom- and steps-economy in chemical synthesis.

Currently

His current research on the fundamental reactivity of organotransition metal complexes with carboradicals, carbenes and nitrenes has already resulted breakthrough in regioselective catalytic C-H bond cross coupling reactions.
