Wing Sun has retired. Prioir to retirement, he was a Chief Geotechnical Engineer with the Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO) of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR and was responsible for management of Landslide Prevention and Mitigation projects, detailed design and technical development work for slope upgrading and landslide mitigation works, as well as systematic studies of landslides in Hong Kong. He was Geotechnical Engineer, Senior Geotechnical Engineer and Chief Geotechnical Engineer with the GEO and responsible in the past for management and implementation of geotechnical research and development projects; systematic investigation of landslides; natural terrain hazard studies using quantitative risk assessments; design and construction of landslide prevention and mitigation works, cavern and underground construction works, geotechnical instrumentation and field monitoring works; provision of ground investigation and compliance testing services for public works projects; geotechnical control of building developments, civil engineering works and infrastructure projects in Hong Kong; and provision of geotechnical advices for infrastructure projects, etc.

Wing Sun was a part-time lecturer for MSc and CPD courses of the Hong Kong University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
