Wong Yung Hou 王殷厚

  • Senior Research Fellowship in 2001 at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
  • Scholarship in 1985 at University of Cambridge

Professor WONG Yung Hou is currently Dean of Science and Chair Professor of the Division of Life Science at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is also the Director of Molecular Neuroscience Center, and Associate Director of the Biotechnology Research Institute. Professor Wong’s research interests are in the structure and function of G protein-coupled receptors. By utilizing a combination of biochemical, immunological, and molecular biology approaches, he has made significant contributions to the understanding of the mechanisms of drug actions, especially those involved in the development of opiate tolerance and dependence. He has also created several universal G protein adapters that serve as powerful molecular tools for drug discovery. As a highly accomplished researcher, Prof Wong has published over 220 scientific papers in leading journals and holds 5 patents. (2001/2002)
