Senior Research Fellowship
at The University of Hong Kong
Professor Billy Chow Kwok Chong is distinguished for his research in the area of molecular endocrinology, with a special focus on the novel functions of secretin and the discovery of novel bioactive peptides. Professor Chow’s group substantiated secretin as a pituitary hormone and discovered a new class of bioactive peptide that can activate growth hormone release. Professor Chow is a recipient of the International Grace Pickford Award in 2005, the International Akira Arimura Young Investigator Award in 2007, as well as the Outstanding Researcher Award (2005) and Research Output Prize (2010 ) of the University of Hong Kong. Professor Chow graduated with BSc and PhD degrees from the University of British Columbia.
Professor Chow is continuing his work on the neuroactivity of secretin, the pleiotropic functions of secretin in our body, the secretin/VIP/glucagon family of peptides and their receptors, the identification of novel growth hormone-releasing factors and the expression regulation of the GnRH/GnRH receptor genes.
