- Scholarship in 2020 at University of Copenhagen
Julio is pursuing his PhD study in Prof Niels Mailand's lab at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research, University of Copenhagen. He receives his major funding from the Copenhagen Bioscience PhD programme, with additional support from the Croucher Foundation. He is interested in studying how cells dynamically cope with and recover from different stresses. Now, he is focusing on investigating dynamic DNA-protein crosslinks repair.
Julio received his BSc and MPhil at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Before going for a PhD, he met 2 important mentors. At HKUST, he worked on research about molecular basis of cell cycle control with Prof Randy Poon. During his undergraduate, he went on exchange at University of Wisconsin-Madison and also joined Prof Bill Sugden’s lab.
Outside of lab, Julio loves wine tasting, playing sports, and watching movies in his free time.
