Wong Yung Hou

  • Senior Research Fellowship in 2001 at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
  • Scholarship in 1985 at the University of Cambridge

Professor WONG Yung Hou is currently a Chair Professor of the Division of Life Science at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is also the Director of Biotechnology Research Institute and Molecular Neuroscience Center. Professor Wong’s research interests are in the structure and function of G protein-coupled receptors. By utilizing a combination of biochemical, immunological, and molecular biology approaches, he has made significant contributions to the understanding of the mechanisms of drug actions, especially those involved in the development of opiate tolerance and dependence. He has also created several universal G protein adapters that serve as powerful molecular tools for drug discovery. As a highly accomplished researcher, Prof Wong has published over 170 scientific papers in leading journals and holds one patent. (2001/2002)
