Zhang Shizhong

  • Innovation Award in 2015 at University of Hong Kong

Dr Zhang works on theoretical condensed matter and cold atom physics. He graduated from Tsinghua University in 2003, and received his PhD degree in physics from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2009. He joined the University of Hong Kong in August 2012.

Currently

Dr Zhang’s main area of interest lies in the collective behavior of strongly interacting many-body systems. Currently, his research focuses on the transport properties of unitary Fermi gases (UFG) and spin-orbit coupling in cold atomic gases. His most representative work in HKU is on the minimal (transverse) spin diffusivity in the UFG and their implications for the understanding of its normal state.
