Chu Mei Ling Zan

Zan Chu is currently a Product Manager at Apple. 

Previously, Chu was a Ph.D. candidate at the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Stanford University, which she completed in 2015. She obtained her M.S.in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University in 2012 and B.Eng. in Civil Engineering in 2008 from The University of Hong Kong. She was awarded the Croucher Scholarship (2010-2013) and John A. Blume Research Fellowship (2010-2013) from Stanford University. She attended University of California, Davis in 2006-2007 as an international exchange student.

Zan enjoys travelling, hiking, jazz dance, and music in her spare time.

Currently

Zan’s research on modeling human behaviors in facility emergencies is a highly interdisciplinary project which involves understanding in social science, emergency management, facility design, and computer simulation.  Besides building a simulation tool for egress analysis based on disaster management studies, Zan also collaborates closely with practitioners and experts in facility management and event planning to gather real-life crowd movement data for validating the simulation tool.
