Dr. Fanny Wai San Ko is a respiratory specialist physician, currently holding a position as Consultant in the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong. She is also the Honorary Clinical Associate Professor of the Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Dr. Ko graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong as the top student in Medicine. She has undergone full training in Internal and Respiratory medicine at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong after her graduation. Her main research interest is in the area of asthma and chronic obstructive lung disease. With the support of the Croucher Foundation Scholarship and the Hong Kong Lung Foundation Fellowship, she had a year of research training in the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research at the University of Sydney in Australia in 2000-2001. She has published more than 120 papers in peer-reviewed journals and she has obtained her MD degree in 2007 based on her research work on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
She is currently the Senior Editor of Respirology. In addition, she is the Past President of the Hong Kong Thoracic Society, Vice President of the Hong Kong Institute of Allergy, and the medical advisor of the Hong Kong Asthma Society.
