- Scholarship in 2020 at University College London
Jay Yan received his MEng in chemical engineering from University College London (UCL) in 2019 where he developed a strong interest in electrochemical energy storage technologies.
He worked on lithium sulphur battery cathode material during his masters dissertation under the Material and Catalysis Lab (MCL), where he also participated in various electrochemistry and electrochemical devices related researches.
He also worked on zinc ion battery research as a research assistant in City University of Hong Kong in 2019.
He is currently pursuing a PhD in chemical engineering at UCL with a focus in electrocatalysis of oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC), specifically with platinum single atom alloy accompanied with in operando x-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) characterisation.
